Good news for Chester City
May 6, 2010
The twohundredpercent website’s coverage of the fall and fall of Chester City FC over the last two or three years has been exemplary, and should be required reading for anyone interested in the ownership and governance of football clubs in the UK. Today, they offer a summarised history, and, at long last, some good news for the long-suffering fans of the club.
Sadly, while the rules on ownership still offer little barrier to the likes of Stephen Vaughan owning clubs, and while over-spending on wages and transfers in the hope that promotion might result remains the rule, it seems inevitable that other clubs will continue to follow the same trajectory as Chester.
